OAuth Support for Yahoo and Gmail

When we first launched CloudSponge.com, OAuth support was not quite available yet for Yahoo or Gmail. This meant you had to ask your users to hand over their username and password to import their contacts. Well, not anymore.

Both Yahoo and Gmail now offer OAuth support and we have promptly updated CloudSponge.com to support OAuth for both these services. Now, your users will no longer have to provide their username and password to you, but instead authenticate directly to Yahoo or Gmail via a user consent page.

Our sources indicate Yahoo no longer supports the previous username and password method, while Gmail can still be accessed this way. We encourage all our users to update their API methods to support the OAuth import method for both these services.
